CLOCKS THAT ALLURE US!!
20 Aug 2008
“Time and tide wait for no man”; this famous saying briefs about the importance of time. In our fast paced world, time does really play a very important role in our lives. Sometimes we even tend to feel that 24 hours are not sufficient to cope with our priorities.
I am not going to write about the importance of time, but about the clock which shows us the time of the day. Clocks have been of different types, right from the grandfather clocks, grandmother clocks, antique clocks and they are still evolving into newer patterns, the latest of which are the atomic clocks.
In the 15th and 16th century clocks of all different designs began to be manufactured and included such developments as a second hand on the clock dial and pendulum technology which would spark the design and development of the longcase clock – later to be known as the grandfather clock.
Clocks today are definitely a tribute to the earlier designs and offer a variety in terms of style.
I have always wanted to own a unique clock, but unfortunately I dint have one of that sort with me. But one of my cousins owned a very beautiful grandfather clock, which she inherited from her grandparents. It was an elegant, brown colored, triple chime clock she used to preserve the clock like her own life and never let us step near it
Many years have passed and I still don’t own a special clock. I happened to browse through this fabulous website, www.1-800-4clocks.com/index.html which has an unlimited collection of very beautiful clocks, the mantel clocks especially where fabulous and I found my special clock.
They also have a wide range of my favorite grandfather clocks. Their Howard Miller Grafton II Grandfather Clock seemed to have attracted my attention the most. It has a Black Coffee finish on select hardwoods and veneers, the white dial features a bezel, hands and markers finished in brushed nickel, brushed nickel grid pendulum and weight shells that complement the dial, illuminated dial for viewing in darkness and adjustable levelers under each corner provide stability on uneven and carpeted floors.
I have never come across a clock of this sort even and I am actually craving to own this clock too.
I also happened to visit a blog about clocks; it was very surprising for me as I have not gone through a blog like this one, dedicated fully for the clocks. The blog contains everything under the sun about clocks in general and there was this particular post “Clocks are So Good for Telling Time! Watches too! Gift Givers Take Note” which was very impressive.
So, that’s about it guys, try out the site and maybe you would find your dream clock too!!!
